There are four types of heart diseases:
1:Coronary heart disease.
2:Strokes and TIAs.
3:Peripheral arterial disease.
4:Aortic disease.
Coronary heart disease:Coronary heart disease (CHD), also known as coronary artery disease (CAD) or ischemic heart disease, is a medical condition that occurs when the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle (coronary arteries) become narrowed or blocked. This narrowing or blockage is usually caused by the buildup of fatty deposits, cholesterol, and other substances known as plaques on the inner walls of the arteries. Over time, these plaques can restrict blood flow to the heart muscle, leading to various complications.
Strokes and TIAs:A strokes is where the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off, which can cause brain damage and possibly death.TIAs (Transient Ischemic Attack) dose not damage brain cells or cause permanent disability. It is caused by a temporary state of reduced blood flow in a portion of the brain.
Peripheral arterial disease:PAD in the legs or lower extremities is the narrowing or blockage of the vessels that carry blood from the heart to legs.It is caused by the buildup of fatty plaque in the arteries, which is called atherosclerosis.
Aortic disease:Any disorders and conditions that affect the aorta are called aortic disease. It is a serious disease and can be life-threatening.They happen when the walls of the aorta become weak and bulge, split, burst or block up. Aorta bulges or swellings are called aneurysms.
